Guided Farm Tour:

Each and every plant and animal in the farm have their own story to tell and who better to retell them than the farmer himself. The eldest son in the family- Johns, an agriculturist by profession will take you on a tour of the farm and its various activities.

Village Walk :

Let’s go on a hike to Mundanmala – a hilltop which is about 2 kms away from the farm to to see a beautiful sunset. On the way you will get to  experience the quaint local village life and chat with the locals over a ‘chaya’ at the local tea stall.

Cooking Experience: A journey from garden to plate

Here in the farm the journey of cooking starts from the garden rather than a supermarket. Our grandmother or her daughter will take you through the process of harvesting vegetables till it reaches your plate.

Fishing in freshwater pond: [Seasonal]

Catch fishes using the local fishing style and have it for dinner. If you are interested, learn the cleaning and cooking methods too.

Go on a Black Baza trail at Thattekad Bird Sanctuary:

This is a bird watching trail through the Thattekkad Bird Sanctaury. This three hours guided trail will take you to the core of the Sanctuary. The exhilarating joys of being in birds’ own country have to be experienced right from early morning. Please note that the sanctuary is at a distance of 52 Kms from the farm and to have the best experience it is advised to have an early breakfast and leave by 6:00 am and return for lunch.

Trekking in Thommankuthu Forest Range:

Thommankuthu has two trekking trails. First one is a short trail of about 1 km to enchanting waterfalls Thommankuthu and Ezhunilakuthu. The second one is a 5 km long trail through the rocky dense forests up. Thommankuthu forest doesn’t disappoint those who want to see its treasures stashed away deep in its foliage. Once inside you’d be so excited to discover many more waterfalls and caves in the series.

Off-roading to Elaveezha Poonchira:

Situated at a distance of 30 Kms from John’s Farm and Home, Elaveezha Poonchira is a beautiful hilltop at an altitude of 975 metres. The trip atop the hill  follows an adventurous and scenic path. Once on the hilltop get bewitched by the mesmerising view of the valleys, hills and the rock contours. The four wheel drive to the top and the beautiful scenery there together makes it a complete safari experience.

A day in Vembanad lake:

A visit to Kerala is incomplete without a boating experience in Vembanad lake. This is where the famous snake boat race (Vallamkali) happens in the month of August. Here the nature is giving every nature lover and shutterbug an opportunity to discover nature and wildlife in the canvas of Kuttanad.

Industrial visit – Rubber Factory

Once you are in the heartland of rubber plantation, it is not wise to leave without understanding all you can about rubber and its products. Let’s go visit one of the rubber factories and see what happens there.
